The 2011 Color Report

Ever wonder why certain colors seem to dominate fashion magazines and store racks? One reason is because of Pantone, a company considered by many to be the global authority on color and a provider of professional color standards for design industries. Each year the company surveys designers, including those participating in New York Fashion Week, to collect feedback on prominent collection color, color inspiration and color philosophy.


This information is used to create the PANTONE Fashion Color Report, which serves as a reference tool throughout the year for fashion enthusiasts, reporters and retailers. If youíre interested in incorporating the year's hottest colors into your wardrobes, here's what the report says are the top colors for women's fashion for spring/summer 2011:

Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle is festive and flirtatious, offering a sense of playfulness. The vibrant pinkish-red for apparel and cosmetics is a perfect post-winter pick-me-up.

Coral Rose
Coral Rose is spicy, gregarious and persuasive. It's a sophisticated orange that conjures up feelings of exotic lands. Pair it with a cool, refreshing color-wheel opposite like Regatta Blue to add excitement to your wardrobe.

Beeswax
Although a little more sophisticated than Coral Rose, Beeswax has an exotic feel too. Like Coral Rose, it can also be paired with Regatta Blue.

Regatta Blue
Regatta Blue is cool, refreshing and fits well with this year's popular nautical trends.

Lavender
Lavender is romantic and sensual, and works well with Beeswax or Coral Rose as a unique counterpoint.

Blue Curacao
Blue Curacao has an exotic, tropical feel. Mix and match it with complementary colors like Honeysuckle or Coral Rose.

Peapod
This fresh yellow-green color is reminiscent of the green shoots that signify change and new beginnings traditionally found in spring.

Silver Peony
Itís a lovely, soft feminine color that can easily be rocked up when paired with blacks or metallics.

Russet
Deep and daring, Russet brings warmth and culture to any wardrobe. It is especially suitable for mixing prints or adding a pop of bright color.

This is the quintessential neutral that you can rely on to coordinate with everything in your wardrobe.

Color Your Wardrobe
Keep in mind that just because these are the "in" colors, they might not be the right colors for you. Talk with your personal style consultant to determine if any of these colors work with your style personality and personal coloring. Right or wrong, it's always okay to experiment with color so don't be afraid to at least try on a few of the new colors. You never know a, Blue Curaco and Silver Cloud could be your perfect colors!
